The New T-Max 400

By: Craig Pindell

When preparing for my August 2009 visit to Glacier National Park, I was quite concerned when every outlet for Fuji Across 100 film proved to be out of my "favorite" film. I prefer to shoot the same film in my 4x5 and my 8x10. Acros worked well because I could use the Fuji Quickload system for the 4x5, and the 100 speed was adequate for most of my photography.

In a near panic I contacted my good friend Don Breakey for advice- as usual- and he reccomended the New T-Max 400. He told me he thought it was a better film than the Fuji- better speed, fine grain, and better sharpness.

I am happy to report he was right on all counts. I am very pleased with the results, and was able to process the T-Max at the same times and dilutions as Acros.

I am disappointed Kodak does not have a Readyload option for this film, but I will gladly trade that convenience for the improved quality of the T-Max 400.

I have included my development table as a possible guideline.
